Almost completed magazine
Tomorrow just going to completely finish off the double page spread. I believe I also need to change the layout, and add pictures of more models. Furthermore, just a few minor changes and little things. I have used the same colour and tone to transfer the atmosphere from the front cover. As well to maintain the consistency.

Contents page work iin progress
I have made a little progress on my contents page, I've trying to consolidate the positioning and the content inside the double page spread, I still need to add a lot of things and make a lot of improvement. There's a lot of white space and too simple, looks more like a newspaper article rather than a magazine article. Also the positioning of the model, plus the pose is not suitable, I think it should be closer image of the model. But so far it looks really boring.

Work in progress front cover
I have completed my flat plan which means I can complete my contents page and other things. However my front cover is basically done, I just need to do a few minor changes and add the midshot. To be honest that isn't going to be the main colour of the background, it is only there so that it differentiates from the the rest as well as i just need to add something. But I'm quite satisfied by the way it looks now and I'm pretty sure it will look great when it's completed.

WorkInProgress Actual Front cover
today I have done most part of my actual front cover. I just need to change the sublines and add the midshot. Then after that I'm basically done with the front cover. I still need to do the contents page as well as the double page spread. Furthermore, the background is only that colour due to the fact that I don't have a main image yet, and just so it doesn't look too boring.

Work In progress
I have done my flat plan and was continuing to work on my front cover. Now I am a bit more clear on how my front cover is going to look, this is not the exact but it's quite similar on how I want the end product to look like. There would be a few minor changes probably.

work-in-progress - front cover plan masthead ideas
during my pitch, the audience told me that they'd prefer if I'd change the name of my magazine. Which I completely agree with. The name of my magazine was numbers and digits which really sounds like a magazine about maths and since my magazine is about hip hop and grime I had to change it. In addition, the name was too long so I ended up changing it to NUMB£RS which now it looks more urban and "street". I have also made sure to make the word numb in numbers very obvious and by doing that I changed the colour of it to some dark red. I have not completed my plan but I'd like to make it cold in other words no bright colours, mostly dull and dark, not shiny just matte. So I could transfer the mood and atmosphere from the music onto the front cover.
my video
In this video I have talked about the concept of my magazine and have listen to the responses carefully and have taken it into account. And one of the biggest concerns of the audience was the logotype, more like the name. Digits and Numbers/numbers and digits. It was said many things about it. Firstly that it was too long which I fully agree and sometimes can be hard to pronounce which is not very beneficial for my magazine. In addition, they said the name was irrelevant to my genre which is true. And in fact it sounds more like a maths magazine to be honest. So I decided to change the name to NUMB£RS.

the right front cover
MY SELF EVALUATION
What I think I have done well is, adding in the main features of what a magazine should have. For an example masthead, barcode etc. However, not everything is perfect therefore, there is still a lot of improvements meant to be made. Firstly, starting off with the sub lines, I think the placing is right, however it doesn't have much content and doesn't really dive in to what the articles might actually be about. Another possible improvement could be the font and colour choice. But I have attempted to keep the colour choice from my logo into my magazine.I decided to take a picture of the student in a way that it gave space for the sublines by the sides and for additional stuff and not look messy. However, as said before I agree and believe the mid-shot should be bigger.
In addition, I have also added a logo with the same colours as the actual LSC logo. But I have changed it a bit but as was said before to make it bigger as well which I can see that as an improvement as it would make it look better.
Furthermore, the rest of the things including sublines and flash made it and coloured according to my logo which is that dark blue and dark yellow. But font should be different and probably going to make the main title stand out more.

xxl magazine double page spread analysis
Firstly there was a lot of double page spreads, so it wasn't clear which one was the most important. But I chose this one as it could allow me to express myself more about the magazine. First starting off the colours, black, white and red are definitely the main colours. However on this page blue was used which could be argued that it shouldn't have been used as it didn't look as good, and should've has used the same colours as Nas even though they are different artists. But it actually shows that XXL bases the colour depending on what the artist is wearing. As reading the page we can tell about the relaxed language. Even the headline titled "4dafam" instead of saying for the family which to us they believe and comfortable with releasing issues using language like this and doesn't believe it should be a reason for the reader to complain. Also since it is company who have been making magazines for a while they expect their customers to be able to read and understand their language. On these two pages it clearly separates what's more important, this can be decided by the size colour and how much is written. Therefore this in important for the reader as sometimes when they don't have time to read a lot of things they can narrow down what they can read in that period. Due to selection, the magazine has weird structures within the magazine and is never the same, with different font sizes and columns not the same size and such. Which in my opinion I like it because it gives a natural look rather than a mechanical look. They also separate them by their background so even though it has a complicated look, it is quite simple and smart.
xxl magazine contents page
Image
There is a mid shot of Nas who
is the rapper who was featured
on the main cover. It has the
atmosphere is the same; it is the
dark and gloomy style. However,
he is wearing different clothes but
still keeping that "bad boy" style
as well as he has a slightly different
pose but it is very similar. The
background looks like a car park,
mechanic's or an abandoned place,
this all adds to the theme.
Page Layout
The page layout is simple. It is just
the picture of him, and columns on
two separate pages. The columns
only contain the contents of all editorial content pages and also stays true to the three colours scheme as the background, is quite dark and the letters are red and white.
Language
The language is straight forward but it's not too formal, in other words it's written in a quite relaxed manner. Which can either be loved or hated but it matches it's target market. Furthermore, it showcases rappers and artists in which their songs are composed using informal words and slang.
Genre
The genre is hip-hop without a doubt. And in this magazine it portrays that in many ways. Firstly, Hip-hop was predominantly music that came from poorer areas, so it came from those who had been through a lot and had done bad things because they didn't know better and needed to survive so it's quite dark. Just like most of the magazine as well as the red, which could possibly signify danger, blood and risk so it is definitely a good choice for a colours. Also the language which is quite relaxed compared to another and more formal magazine.

college prelim
These are possible things that might appear in a college magazine: results day, celebrity secrets, key dates, trip into, reports, journalisms, student accomplishments, clubs and activities, competitions, interview with staff and students.
Both Music and College magazines contain similarities such as the Masthead, barcode as well as the 3 colours. The image should be a student and usually these students are not known whereas in a music magazine there would a famous person which would be known around the world. As well as the background would be different and there would possibly be a theme. The college magazine is a lot more filled up with words.

clash double page spread analysis
- its about how the kills are back together and then the story continues to next page and it's in a professional
- Its just one section but two columns
- the lighting is good and its a two shot but the colours are lifeless which gives that vintage look and matches with the contents page and front cover.
- it has no pull quote and has no beginning middle end
- but the structure and alignment is unique as it is in a weird manner

clash contents page analysis
- Contents page actually uses 2 pages but looks really well
- includes editorial.
- many pictures to entice the readers along the bottom which seems like a strip
- there are 3 sections but there are 6 columns, 3 in each page
- it reflects the front cover as it portrays a vintage style aswell as the colours are lifeless and dull, as well as the font

Do dis ting
The genre I have chosen for my magazine is Hip-Hop, but London based hip hop. It firstly originated in Bronx, New York in the 70's and every since, it has grown into many nations and has created many talented rappers with many styles. It is no lie that Hip-Hop has influenced many peoples lives and the way we see people. The father of Hip-Hop is Kool Herc. Currently, the most known rapper is Kanye West however, doesn't necessarily mean he's the best. But it all comes to preference and how you define what makes you the best. Over the years there has been a couple of influential rappers such as B.I.G ,Tupac but both have been killed. And still alive Eminem. Marshall Mathers in my opinion is the best rapper ever and no one could ever be better than him. But in London Hip-Hop grew differently. It created Hip-Hop as we know today as well as trap and grime. Trap is commonly known for being the choice of style for "gangsters" nevertheless it still gives a chance to leave the life they describe in their songs. The most famous channels in which rap videos are uploaded are Linkup Tv, Grm Daily, SBTV, Pacmantv. However, these channels will lead them to success, for an example 67 who now have a contract with Vevo. Growing up and still living in East London, music was really important. Because people who were trying to make songs would be local as they weren't famous. And we would just be supporting them.

Guilherme's intro
Hello, my name is Guilherme. I'm a media studies student who would like to get the best possible grade. I have interest in media, but I especially have more interest due to the fact of graphics. I have studied Graphics Products and I like subjects that have similarities. And I think it is beneficial to do media studies if I would like to be a graphic designer or to have studied graphics products if I would like my future career to work in a media related job. So they are equally as important to me. It is no lie that I prefer Graphics Products but it is as good. I like these subjects because it almost gives me some sort of a mission and tasks which will then narrow down how creative I can be due to the purpose of it.
